Winter Water: An online exhibition

Welcome!

Winter Water is the first really cohesive collection of paintings I’ve done in a while, so I’m pretty excited about it. However, with the restrictions brought about by COVID-19, I’m not able to host a traditional show any time soon. But I need to honour the energy and fire that went into this collection by sharing it here. People often ask me about what goes into my work, the motivation or inspiration behind the paintings. While I have come to expect these enquiries, I always find them very difficult to address, simply because I’m shy about talking about my work. Creating this artist talk and making these video and audio reflections were almost more difficult than making the paintings. It is far easier to hide behind paint and canvas than to unleash one’s very obvious vulnerabilities to the world. Although I share my own thoughts about what led to this collection and some of what I felt during the process, I leave the narrative up to you. Take each painting and create your own story, music or poetry. The depths of the wild winter waters are the limit.

Winter Waters is made up of two series: Portals to deep wild waters and Runs through it. Each series is a body of five paintings.
